Kathleen (Kaye) Margaret Colpitts WOLFVILLE, NS - Kathleen (Kaye) Margaret Colpitts (nee Lutes) passed away Thursday, July 20, 2006 in Wolfville at the home of her daughter following a courageous battle with cancer. Born at Steeves Mountain December 14, 1924 she was a daughter of the late Judson and Sadie (Lewis) Lutes. Kaye spent her youth in Woodstock and Mont Eagle surrounded by her many aunts, uncles and cousins. After marriage she lived in Colpitts Settlement prior to moving to Charlottetown in 1957. Salisbury was her home until she moved to Calgary in 1996. Kaye's working career included the T. Eaton Co., Swift Canadian, Charlottetown Poly-Clinic, Your Pharmacy, owner-operator of Salisbury Village Mart and retired from the Wawanesa Insurance Co. She was a founding board member of the Michael Lutes (1776) organization and took an active interest in her genealogy. She was on the District School Board, served on the Salisbury Village Council as Deputy Mayor for six years and a board member of the Jordan Memorial Home. At the time of her passing she was a member of the Wolfville Baptist Church. Kaye had a steadfast faith and loyally supported her church wherever she resided. She is survived by her children, Constance of Salisbury, Gale Abbey (Don) of Wolfville, Thomas of Peterborough, Andrew of Calgary; three grandchildren, Mark, Jill (MacNeil) and Jason Delaney; and by her loving great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Angus MacNeil. Surviving also by her sister, Dorothy Hourihan (Jim) of Avondale; brothers, Judson Lutes (Mable) of Hampstead, Harrison Lutes (Bessie) of Mont Eagle, Victor Lutes (Mable) of Calgary; sisters-in-law, Irene Lutes, Ada Taylor, Alma Lewis of Rexton and Annette Ellis of Burton; brother-in-law, Chesley Colpitts (Audrey) of Brockville as well as her 41 nieces and nephews. She was blessed by the love and support of her extended family, Pearl Colpitts of Salisbury, Joe and Cathy (Colpitts) Zink and their daughters, Talia, Valerie and Lindsay of Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband, George A. Colpitts; infant daughter and by Stewart Colpitts of Calgary; sister, Lillian Eagles; brothers, Harold (Hazel), Dana and Karl Lutes. The Funeral will be held from the Salisbury Baptist Church on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at 2 p.m. There will be no visiting hours by request. A reception will follow the funeral. Interment at the Colpitts Community Cemetery. If so desired, memorials to the Salisbury Baptist Church Building Fund or the Colpitts Community Cemetery or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
