Shirley Jean Hicks PORT ELGIN, NB - Surrounded by family, on Thursday, August 10, 2006, Shirley Jean Hicks, age 78, of Sackville, formerly of Port Elgin, passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born in Sackville, she was a daughter of the late Sherman and Eleanor (Sears) Hicks. Shirley was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, Port Elgin, and of the Point de Bute Women's Institute. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Veva (Gary) Curwin, Sackville, NB; son, Kevin (Valerie), Hinton, AB; three granddaughters, Kellie, Erin and Tammy; two great grandchildren, Jayden and Ryan; two sisters, Audrey Butcher, Sackville and Geraldine (Ed) McIntyre, Moncton; a brother, Arlington (Marjorie) Hicks, Sackville; sister-in-law, Sally Hicks, Amherst, NS. Predeceased by husband, Gerald Hicks in 1998; two brothers, Lawrence and Conrad; sister Olga Hicks. The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (364-1300) on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at 2 pm, Rev. Terry Trites officiating. Burial will take place in the Midgic Cemetery.
