
Cecil Leon Barbour
Cecil Leon Barbour 1921-2006 RIVERSIDE-ALBERT, NB - Cecil Leon Barbour, 84, of Riverside-Albert passed away peacefully on August 15th, 2006 at the Moncton Hospital with his family by his side. Cecil was born in Cape Enrage on November 10, 1921 the son of the late Robert and Violet (Dixon) Barbour. He worked as a Blacksmith and also worked at Fundy National Park as a grounds keeper for 22 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Cecil was a veteran of World War II having served with the 5th Antitank Regiment in Holland, Germany, Belgium and France. He belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 32, Hillsborough. Cecil was known all over Albert County, he and his wife Solie always attended and supported their community, whether it be by going to the church suppers or numerous other events going on through out the years. He enjoyed horses, always keeping horses when he was able. Cecil cherished times spent with his family. He was a special man who will never be forgotten, and he will be remembered for his big smile and gentle manner. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years, Solie (Beck) Barbour; his daughters, Marlene of Riverside-Albert, Charlotte of St. John's, Nfld and Shirley (Floyd) of Riverside-Albert; son, Bobby of Riverside-Albert; sisters, Jessie Dixon of Riverside-Albert and Greta Beck of Riverside-Albert; brother, Weldon Barbour (Helena) of Petitcodiac. He will also be missed by his seven grandchildren, Virginia, Bobbi-Jo, Angela, Dana, Melissa, Tanya and Mandy; eight great grandchildren, Katrinia, Jacob, Samantha, Colby, Chesley, Andrew, Marissa, Connor; and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by an infant son, Charles; infant grandsons, John and Eugene and by an infant brother, Charles. He will be resting at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Riverside-Albert on Wednesday, August 16th. The Legion Memorial service will take place at the Church on Wednesday evening at 6:45pm. The Parish Prayers and a time for sharing memories will take place at the Church on Wednesday evening at 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Riverside-Albert on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 4:00pm with Father Jeff Doucette officiating. Interment will take place in the Holy Ghost Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends at the Riverside-Albert Recreation Center for further fellowship and refreshments. Donations to the Holy Ghost Catholic Church Project Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
