Joyce P. Meredith BRIDGEWATER, NS - After a long fight with cancer, Joyce P. Meredith, 86, passed away peacefully at the South Shore Regional Hospital, in Bridgewater on Tuesday, August 22, 2006. Born in Dartmouth on January 14, 1920, she was the youngest child of Elledge H. and Sara May McElmon. Joyce was a member of Old Town Golf Club, Bridgewater Seniors Club, Bridgewater United Church, and was involved with a number of charities in Florida. Joyce is survived by her husband E. Wayne Meredith; sons, Byron (Barbara) Meredith of Hinton, Alberta, and Bill (Betty) Meredith of Mahone Bay; grandchildren, Susan (Paul) Nakanishi, Douglas (Shelley) Meredith, Steven (Deanne) Meredith, Sharon (Tim) Trahan, Michael (Cheri) Meredith, Rick Meredith (Judy Logan), Betsy Eldon; 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; first cousins, Grace Archibald, and Arthur McElmon. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Nola Hill, Merle MacDonald, Kay Rose, Faye (MacFarlane) Tucker; brothers, Dewey and Laurie McElmon. A service celebrating Joyce's life will be held 11:00 a.m Friday, August 25, 2006 at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. #3, Lunenburg, Rev. Ivan Norton, officiating.
