Gertrude Helen Carson 1908-2006 HAVELOCK, NB - After a long, eventful and determined life, Gertrude Helen (Chesser) Carson died on October 24, 2006 at the Moncton Hospital. Born on July 17, 1908 at Mann's Mountain, Restigouche County, NB, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eva (Moores) Chesser. She attended a one-room school at Mann's Mountain, Campbellton High School and the Provincial Normal School. She taught at several schools in New Brunswick, making life-long friends along the way. After her marriage to Herbert James Carson of Havelock, they operated the Carson Homestead farm in Springhill until ill health forced his retirement in 1972, at which time they relocated to Havelock Village. They had three daughters: Helen Louise, Gertrude Ann, and Ellen Margaret. She is survived by her daughter Ellen; and her husband, Lorne Finley of Ottawa; a sister-in-law, Betty Chesser of Mississauga; and many loved nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbie; infant daughter, Helen, and daughter, Ann. She was also predeceased by her six brothers, John (Chateauguay), William (Campellton), Donald (Matapedia), Merritt (Tide Head), Kenneth (Montreal), Charles (Campellton); and her three sisters, Beatrice Coote (Montreal), Kathleen Chesser (Campellton), and Elizabeth Gillis (Chateauguay). At her request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Havelock Baptist Church, Havelock, NB on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at the Church Hall.
