Delbert T. Thorne

Delbert T. Thorne 1933-2006 Delbert T. Thorne passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, October 30th, 2006. Son of the late Lee Theodore and Elsie (McKnight) Thorne, Del was born January 23, 1933 in Sussex, NB. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann (Blizzard) formerly of Saint John; sons, Gary (Cynthia) of Riverview, David of Saint John; and beloved grandchildren, Alicia, Rebecca, Andrew and Rachel; sisters, Betty Muir and Margaret (Wayne) Coates; and a brother, Stanley (Mona). He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Del started his career at The Kings County Record (Sussex, NB) before moving to F.W. Woolworth (Saint John) then to Lord's Drug Stores before joining Shoppers Drug Mart, retiring in 1997. After retirement, Del became heavily involved in his community by becoming a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and serving as Treasurer of the Seniors Federation of New Brunswick (Lakeview Seniors). Del was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Town of Riverview in 2004. Del was renowned for his compassion and his ability to tell a story. He will be missed by all who had the great fortune to meet him. Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 1 from 7 to 9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2006 in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home, Rev. Shawn Redden officiating. A reception for Del's friends and family will follow the service in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. The family would appreciate donations to Habitat for Humanity or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of NB.
