Kaye (Cole) Belliveau 1921 - 2006 Kaye (Cole) Belliveau of Lakeville N.B. quietly passed away at the ProTem Nursing Home where she has been a resident for the past year. Born Kathleen Alice Cole, only daughter of Edgar and Ellen (Shea) Cole, she lived her early years in Dorchester N.B. and was active in many of the sports the Town and nearby Sackville had to offer from hockey, basketball, tennis, badminton and softball. Graduating form Dorchester High School at the age of 16, she went on for a year at Mount Carmel Academy in Saint John N.B. Her interest was in becoming a Registered Nurse from which she never wavered. Unable to begin training for the profession, she had to wait until she was 19 years of age. She came to Moncton and took temporary employment with Eatons and Nixon and Flemming Pharmacy. During this period she met her future husband, Frank Belliveau and they became engaged. However with the Second World War underway, they made the decision to each follow their career paths, she in nursing and he with the Royal Canadian Air force. He had been employed with the Canadian National Railway and returned four years later to their employ. She finished training at the Moncton City Hospital, and spent a year specializing in Pediatrics at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, where they again met on his return to Canada. They were married shortly after and preceded with plans for the future. After building a new home in Lakeville they proceeded to raise a family of six children. She continued private duty nursing. Her knowledge and care of children helped many young mothers. That and her own family occupied much of her time and when her children were of an age where they no longer needed constant care she returned to Nursing as a Supervisor of the Moncton Hospital Annex, which at the time was for care of seniors. Kaye continued her love of sports with skating, skiing, horseback riding and sailing. Born of a family of early New Brunswick settlers to take up land her Great Grandfather, Jonathan Cole arrive more than a dozen years before the first Yorkshire settlers and twenty years before the Loyalists stepped ashore at Dorchester Island, he arrived on the vessel from Providence Rhode Island in 1761 and settled at Coles Point where the family lived until the Second World War, operating the ferry to Edgetts Landing in Albert Co. Because of them, Kaye always had a strong attachment for Dorchester and her early childhood. She is survived by her devoted husband, Frank; her daughters, Kathleen (Kim) Belliveau of Shediac, Anne (Nan) Allison Steeves (Ted Ayles) of Shediac, Maria Williams (Russel) of Guelph, ON; sons, Cole (Brenda) of Hillsborough, Philip (Bonnie) of Cape Pele; son-in-law, Joe Serventi of Guelph, ON; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one daughter, Frances Serventi of Guelph, ON. Kaye will be missed by a great many people with whom she was associated because of her kind, boundless optimism, warmth and acceptance of others, which she quietly extended to her husband, children, family, friends and relatives. She will be lovingly remembered. The family wish to extend grateful thanks for the many kindnesses and loving care given her by the Staff of the ProTem Nursing Home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cadman Bowness Funeral Home (857-1110) 114 Alma Street Moncton with visiting hours on Thursday, December 14, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm with parish prayers being held on Thursday evening at 8:30 pm in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, December 15 at 10 am at St Bernard's Catholic Church, Botsford Street. A reception will follow in the Church Hall.
