Charles Albert Bannister 1919 - 2006 The death of Charles Albert Bannister of East Saint John occurred peacefully on Friday December 15, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1919 in Lewisville, NB he was the son of the late James Albert and Florence (Leaman) Bannister. Charles was a Veteran of WWII serving with the Moncton Rangers than serving overseas with the Carleton York Regiment and served behind the Hitler Line, and became a War Hero. He worked as a Mason for 50 years, and was a member of the Bricklayers Association, Exhibition Association and Fundy Dahlia Association. Charles was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his devoted companion, Audrey Saunders; his loving daughters, Margaret Bannister (Ulric Cormier) of Fredericton, Christina Winchester (Eric) of Fredericton, Charlotte Bannister of Saint John, Charlene Robinson of Moncton and Linda Titus (Rick) of Titusville; grandchildren, Krista Rotolo, Debbie and Charles Allan Calvin, Mark, Erika and Andrew Winchester, Tracy, Christopher, and Tara Sewell, Jamie Robinson and Keith Titus; great grandchildren, Alexis, Amanda, Kalie and Connor; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Martha Elizabeth Brakefield (Weeks) Bannister; brothers, Melvin, Harry, Pearl, Tom, Roy and Robert; sisters, Annie Neilson, Mae Grover, Edith Bannister and Zenith McClure. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Tuesday December 19, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday December 20, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery Field of Honor. The family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
