Rhoda M. Phinney
Rhoda M. Phinney 1906 - 2007 SACKVILLE, NB - Rhoda M. Phinney, age 100, of Sackville, passed away at the Drew Nursing Home on Friday, January 26, 2007. Born in Midgic in 1906, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey and Annie (Hicks) Hicks. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church. Rhoda worked outside the home, at Mount Allison in the 20's and the Sackville Laundry during the 40's and 50's. A woman of her time she was devoted to her husband and family. A wonderful cook, she was well known for her bread making abilities, her love of her family and homemaking. Rhoda will be sadly missed by her son, Fred (Bev), Sackville; sister, Maizie Steeves, Sackville; son in law, Roy Strang, Port Elgin; six grandchildren, Victor (Deborah) Sears, David (Janice) Sears, Alison (Lee Iverson) Phinney, Susan (Tim Foran) Phinney, Christopher (Louise Heiser) Phinney, and Jonathan Phinney; 11 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 1986; a daughter, Muriel Strang in 1999; sisters, Rheta Holmes, Ina Hicks, Freda Hicks and Beulah Lee; and brothers, Freeman, Eldon and Basil. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300). Visiting hours will take place at the Jones Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 2 pm, Rev. Patti Blundell officiating. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring.
