Douglas Hudson NORTH SYDNEY, NS - It is with deep sadness the family announce the passing of George Douglas Hudson, age 79, a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home and formerly of May Street, on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the Guest Home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springhill, he was the only child of the late Glennie and Gwen (Terris) Hudson. He lived and grew up in Oxford Junction and at an early age he worked for Canadian National Railways as a telegraph operator in various locations throughout Nova Scotia, and later took a position with CN Marine. Upon his retirement he moved to Pugwash and then to Cape Breton and finally resided for the past two years at the Northside Guest Home. Doug could turn his hand to many tasks, he was best known for his abilities in electrical, carpentry and plumbing and he especially loved spending time at his cottage in Pointe du Chene, N.B., enjoying his boats and scuba diving. He was a 50 year member of the Widows Son Masonic Lodge in River John, N.S. He is survived by his loving wife, the former Joyce Ryan; and his two daughters, Dawn, Halifax and Kelly (Doug Rose), North Sydney; and two grandchildren, Ryan and Heather. Joyce and her daughters would especially like to thank the staff of the Northside Guest Home for the care given to Doug and his family over the last two weeks and a special thank you to Doug Rose for his special friendship. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to W.J.
