Mary Christine Rooney passed away Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Clarice (Vigneaux) Burke, of the Magdeline Islands.
She was a member of Holy Rosary parish, Westmount. Until her retirement she worked with IAC Investments. She spent many winters in Florida following her retirement. She was an independent and free spirit.
She is survived by her sister, Yvonne McKay, Sydney River and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Art Rooney; sisters, Eileen, Rita, Clara (Mrs. Ross Crofton), Dorothy (the late Rod Cox) and brother, Freddy.
By request, there will be no visitation; cremation has taken place under the direction of T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
