Hazel Ripley
Hazel Ripley AMHERST, NS - The death of Hazel Ripley, age 92, widow of Duncan Ripley, of Gables Nursing Home, formerly of Chignecto, NS, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Wednesday, April 4, 2007. Born in Canaan, NB, she was a daughter of the late Bliss and Jean Burgess. Hazel was a member of the Maccan United Baptist Church, the W.M.S and a former member of the church choir. Together with her husband she worked at the former Fort Cumberland Hotel for about 15 years. Hazel will be sadly missed by her daughter, Margaret Rose (George) Allaby, Fredericton, NB; four sons, Rupert (Bona), Nappan, Ralph (Perlina), Chignecto, James (Evelyn), Truro and Bradley (Annie), Moncton; 12 grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren and three Great Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Duncan; a daughter, Jane; a son, William; a grandson, Brian and his wife, Linda; Sisters, Violet, Janice, Jennie, Gladys and Leta; and by brothers, Alton, Donald and Theodore The remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777). The funeral service will be held at the Furlong Jones Chapel, 64 Church Street, Amherst on Saturday April 7, 2007 at 2pm. Hazel's family will receive friends at the Chapel on Friday, April 6 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Burial in the Maccan United Baptist Church Cemetery in the spring.
