Florence Gertrude (Gertie) Ryan MIRAMICHI, NB - Mrs. Florence Gertrude (Gertie) Ryan, 71, of Wellington St., Miramichi passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 19th, 2007 at the Moncton City Hospital. She was born in Chatham, the daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Johnston) Cripps. Gertie was a member of St. Michael's CWL, and the bridge club. She loved to volunteer, knitting and reading. Gertie fought a valiant fight with cancer with her ever-present smile, cheerful and witty personality and was a devoted homemaker. Her family and friends will sadly miss her. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Ryan; daughters, Carol Anne Cormie (Vic Perry) of Moncton, Janet Marie Taylor (Ian) of Waterloo, ON; sons, Donald Jr. (Gail) of Surrey, BC, Timothy (Debbie) of Charlottetown, PE; sisters, Catherine Johnson (late Ross) of Milltown, NB, Edith Ramsay (late Walter), Gladys Cameron (Gerald), Grace Marsh (William) all of the Miramichi; brothers, Joseph (Annetta) Cripps of Fall River, NS, Henry (Nancy) Cripps of Nelson Miramichi; five grandchildren, Courteney Ryan, Sean Ryan, Ryan Cormie, Michael Taylor, Erin Taylor; and by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; infant son, Michael; brother, Kenneth; and infant sister, Helen. Mrs. Gertrude (Gertie) Ryan will be resting at Maher's Funeral Home Miramichi on Saturday, April 21st from 7 to 9pm, and Sunday, April 22nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 23rd at 10am from St. Michael's Basilica with Fr. John Fraser officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Moncton City Hospital 6600 floor would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Maher's Funeral Home Miramichi, NB.
