Lois Ethel Cameron 1927 - 2007 FREDERICTON - Lois Ethel Cameron of Fredericton, N.B. passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 in her 80th year. She was born on September 20, 1927, the youngest daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude (Noble) McMurtrie, and was raised on the Springhill Farm just north of Fredericton. She graduated from Fredericton High School in 1944 and worked at the New Brunswick Department of Health before her marriage to Alwyn J. Cameron on August 5, 1950. She made a home for Alwyn and their two daughters, Janet and Anne, on Hanwell Road in Fredericton and resided there for 57 years. She was a member of Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church, a member of Saint Andrew's Ladies Group, a member of the Heritage Rug Hooking Guild, a member of the Lois' Group, a former member of the Fredericton Garden Club and a former member of the Fredericton Quilter's Guild. A strong and vibrant woman, she was an avid gardener, knitter, rug-hooker and quilter. She was an endless source of support and joy to her family and many friends and will be deeply missed by them. She is survived by her two daughters, Janet Cameron (Endre Pataky) of Calgary, Alberta and Anne Folkins (Tony) of Halifax, Nova Scotia; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Pataky and Mitchell, Christopher and Sara Folkins; her sister, Joyce Rickard (Ernest) of Barker's Point; her brother, Eric McMurtrie of Springhill; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alwyn (in 1992); and elder sisters, Muriel Thompson (in 2005) and Edith MacLeod (in 2007). Visitation will take place at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street, on Sunday, May 6, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. The memorial service will be held at Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 512 Charlotte Street, on Monday, May 7, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Douglas Blaikie officiating, followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. If so desired, donations in Lois's memory may be made to Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of the donor's choice. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Gordon Plummer and to the staff of the DECRH Palliative Care Unit.
