Ernest J. Phinney SACKVILLE, NB - Surrounded by his loving family, Ernest J. Phinney, 66, passed away in the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Sunday, August 12, 2007. Born in Midgic he was a son of the Late Kenneth and Della (Sears) Phinney. Upon graduation from the Sackville High School, Ernie started his career with the Scotiabank, working in Sackville, Saint John, Hampton, Florenceville, Oromocto, Fredericton, Devon Park, Woodstock, Moncton and finally back to Sackville from where he retired as Branch Manager in 1997. A hobby farmer, he enjoyed the land and cultivated a blueberry field following retirement. He was a member of the Midgic United Baptist Church, where he was the current Church Moderator and Trustee. He was the former chairman of the Midgic Cemetery Committee. A musician he sang bass with Del Wheaton and Friends. Ernie will be sadly missed and long remembered by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn (Mason); three sons, James (Lynda), Fredericton, John (Anne), Ajax, ON and Jeffrey (Tammy), Midgic; eight grandchildren, Emelie, Rachele, Brandon, Kyle, Natasha, Nathaneal, Evan and Abigeal; sisters, Reva (Fred) Cook, Sackville, Nellie (Albert) Legere, Point de Bute, and Bernice Snowdon, Sackville; and a brother, Vernon (Tammy) Midgic; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506- 364-1300) from where visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the Midgic United Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 15 at 2 pm, Pastor Hal Lowther officiating. Burial in the Midgic Cemetery. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
