Peter B. Mayes

Peter B. Mayes 1954 - 2007 Peter B. Mayes, 53, of Moncton passed away at his home on a sunny Sunday morning, August 19, 2007 after a short but courageous battle with cancer; he went home to be with Jesus with his loving family by his side. Born in Toronto, Peter was the son of Mary Arif of Victoria, BC and the late John Charles Mayes (June 2007). Peter attended Parkside Baptist Church faithfully even after his diagnosis. He was employed as a technician for Allstream Canada starting when he was 19, working in Ottawa for CNT. He was a member of his local CAW and was on the Board of Directors at Omista Credit Union for the past 5 years. He had a passion for mechanics, working in his garage as often as he could. He loved to ride motorcycles, buying his first one when he was just 17. He loved the summer, being able to ride his bike or go camping with his family. Most importantly Peter was a family man. He was a loving husband and supportive dad. For those fortunate to meet Peter, always ready with a joke or a story, you know of his great sense of humor that remained with him until the end. Besides his mother, Peter will be sadly missed by his wife of 21 years, Margaret Anne; daughters, Mallory Veronica Mayes (Baby Duck), at home, Amanda Ross, Moncton; step daughter, Tammy Norris (Fernly), Salisbury; grandchildren, Megan and Christopher; sister, Angela-Mary Stewart (Michael), ON; brothers, Perry (Audrey), Ottawa, ON, Johnny, Toronto, ON; several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, predeceased by two step sons, Michael (1992) and Christopher Taylor (1978). Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd., Moncton, (858-1995), Tuesday 7 to 9, Wednesday 2 to 4, and 7 to 9. A Celebration of Life Service for Peter at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday August 23, 2007, 11 am; Pastor Robert Dunlop, Pastor Jim Alley officiating; Reception following the service. In Peter's memory, donations to Monteagle Cemetery Fund or Memorial of Choice would be appreciated. "Only one life twill soon be passed, only what's done for Christ will last."
