Jason Leonard Vicaire-O'Kane 1984 - 2007 The death of Jason Leonard O'Kane of Ideal Court, Miramichi, NB occurred suddenly on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at the age of 23. Jason was born in Fredericton, NB on January 13, 1984. Jason was a 2003 graduate of Miramichi Valley High School and the Learning Centre. He had a wide variety of interests, was a talented musician and vocalist, played the guitar and piano, had an incredible intellect and curiosity and could also turn his hand at fixing anything from cars to computers. His thirst for knowledge was unquenchable and he was constantly challenging himself and amazing others. Jason was also naturally talented in athletics, especially baseball, was a member of the Grace Christian Fellowship Youth Group in his teenage years and was a very committed participant. Jason was greatly loved and will be sadly missed and never forgotten by two sets of parents, Ernestine Francis of Elsipogtog, NB (formerly Big Cove), Melvin and Marilyn Vicaire of Eel Ground, NB and Pat and Daryla O'Kane of Miramichi, NB; as well as siblings, Lyle Vicaire, Laura and Lewis Francis of Elsipogtog, NB and Shamus and Cailin O'Kane of Miramichi, NB; grandparents, Lillian Francis of Elsipogtog, NB, Hilda Vicaire of Eel Ground, NB; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Special cousin was Teri Buffett. Visitation was held at Bell's Funeral Home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service was held at the River of Life Assembly (formerly Grace Christian Fellowship) on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Stewart officiating. Guitarist and soloist Theodore Lynch sang "I'm Trading My Sorrows" and "I Give My Heart" and guitarist and soloist Mark Sweezey sang "Let Us Pray". Vincent Larry read the 23rd Psalm and Mary Ginnish read the Lord's Prayer in Mi'kmaw. Active pallbearers were Mark Sweezey, Rodney Robichaud, Jeff Williamson, Jay Augustine, Greg Buffett, Donald Vicaire and Conrad Augustine. Burial followed in the Miramichi Cemetery. In Jason's memory a memorial may be made to the River of Life Assembly Youth Group. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Bell's Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, NB.
