Joseph A. (Ray) MacDonald 1929-2007 MIRAMICHI, NB - Joseph Archibald Raymond Perley MacDonald, husband of the late Vera MacDonald, of the Bay du Vin River Road, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Saturday, September 29, 2007, at the age of 78. Born in Pointe Aux Carr, on June 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Archibald and Catherine (Carroll) MacDonald. He was a retired member of the Canadian Armed Forces, serving from 1949 until 1974, during that time was a paratrooper and staff instructor at the Royal Canadian School of Artillery. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with several active units and returning to regular service following the war. Following retirement from the forces, he was a member of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires; a member of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion, Miramichi; an active and valued member of St. Michaels By The Sea Roman Catholic Church, Miramichi Bay. He is survived by three daughters, Maralyn Donelle, of Bay du Vin, Cynthia Kingston (Clarke), of Black River Bridge and Sylvia Wong (Ken), of Surrey, B.C.; three sons, Claude MacDonald (Ruth), of Riverview, Darrell MacDonald (Brenda), of Aldergrove, B.C. and Raymond MacDonald (Barbara), of North Vancouver, B.C.; one sister, Rita McLean (James), of Oromocto; one brother, Edward MacDonald (Jessie), of Pointe Aux Carr; sixteen grandchildren, Cindy, Kathy, Jennifer, Stephanie, Tarah, Meaghann, Kimberley, Laura, Alexandria, Deanna, Morgan, Shawna, Tyrel, Bobby, Germaine, Blake; nine great grandchildren, Jordan, Devyn, Jacob, Ella, Preston, Brett, Hayden, Mitchell, Kylie; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Vera D. Williston, in 2005; one sister, Marie Merrithew; one brother, Lorne MacDonald; one infant brother, Mervyn MacDonald; three half brothers, Mac, Willard and Eldon MacDonald; two sons in law, Joseph Kingston and Robert Donelle. Visiting will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King Street, on Monday only, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Michaels By The Sea Roman Catholic Church, on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at 11 am, conducted by Father Claude Daigle. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Please note, members of Branch #3, Royal Canadian Legion are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Monday evening, at 7:30 pm, for a Veterans Service. Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening at 8 pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of the donors' choice, would be appreciated by the family.
