It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bruce Stubbert, 55, on March 9, 2009, at his home in Florence.
Born in Florence, he was the son of the late John Charles and Margaret (Harris) Stubbert. He was a member of Wilson United Church, Florence.
Bruce lived all of his life in Florence. He worked mainly as a bartender at the Florence Fireman’s Club, the Florence Legion, and the Army/Navy Club in Bras d’Or, of which he was a member.
He was a member of the Florence Legion, and a former member of the Florence Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed playing darts, music, and fishing. He took great pride in his two sons.
Bruce is survived by his sons, Bruce and Kyle, Mississauga, Ont. He is also survived by sisters, Anne (Kenny) Morris and Joan (Keith) Boutilier; sister-in-law, Rita; brothers, Jackie (Marie), Harris (Debbie), twin brother, Bryce (Lynn) and Brent (Marlene); many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Bart ‘Sonny’.
Visitation for Bruce Stubbert will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, today (Thursday), March 12, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Bruce’s life will take place on Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Norma Mills D.L.M. officiating.
