Robert Walter Rankine
Robert Walter Rankine DALHOUSIE, NB - Robert Walter Rankine, 83, passed away peacefully at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on December 7, 2007 with many of his family at his side. Born in Saint John, NB on October 13, 1924 he was the son of the late A. Dodge and Beatrice (Cruikshank) Rankine. Bob was a veteran of the navy in WWII and an engineer with Canadian International Paper for many years. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion proudly participating in Remembrance Day ceremonies. He was an avid musician having played with several bands in Saint John, Halifax, Campbellton and Dalhousie. Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and many other activities and enjoyed life to the fullest. He is survived by his four sons from his previous marriage to Barbara McLauglin Rankine - Steven (Anne), Dieppe, Gregory (Trina), Pt la Nim, Brian (Nimia), Halifax, Ross (Sheila), Hilden; his wife of 30 years, Margaret Poirier Rankine and her children, David (Maria) Guitard, BC, Glenda Guitard, Dalhousie, Nick (Marlaine) Guitard, Fredericton, Charlene (Lenny) Clifford, St-Maure, Patrick Guitard, Fredericton and Marina Guitard, Dalhousie; his sister, Barbara Isherwood, Saint John and numerous grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. At Bob's request, there will be no visitation. A Royal Canadian Legion ceremony followed by a memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Dalhousie, NB on Monday, December 10 at 1:30 pm with a private interment in the spring. In lieu of flowers, remembrances In memory of Bob may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Maher's Funeral Home Dalhousie.
