Betty Lou Jamieson

Betty Lou Jamieson 1928 - 2008 Betty Lou Jamieson, 79, of Moncton passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Thursday, January 17, 2008 following a brief illness with cancer. Being a woman of strong faith she was at peace with God, family and friends and she had accepted her illness gracefully and with much courage. Born May 26, 1928 in Salisbury, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edna Grace Bleakney and Albert Charles Tait. She leaves to mourn her husband, David Jamieson; her three sons, Wayne McArdle (Cindy), Daniel McArdle (Jennifer) and Patrick McArdle; a daughter, Catherine St. Pierre (Erik); eight grandchildren, Jillian Wojcicki (Andrew), Kari McArdle, Mark McArdle Rachel McArdle, Emily St. Pierre, Ryan St. Pierre, Sarah St. Pierre , Laura St. Pierre; and one great-grandchild, Adam Wojcicki. She is also survived by her sister, Ruby Trites (Ronald) of Ontario; and two brothers, Walter Tait (Trude) of Ontario and Howard (Bud) Tait of Salisbury. She was predeceased by her first husband of 43 years, Raymond Andrew McArdle (1990). Betty was a member of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church and had been very active in a number of parish ministries, including involvement as a pastoral care and Eucharistic minister, a marriage preparation counsellor and a member of the baptism team and catechetical program. She was a member of the Catholic Women's League for 54 years, a past president of her parish CWL council and more recently she was the Chairperson of Spiritual Development for the Catholic Women's League, Moncton Archdiocesan Council. She had also been a volunteer leader in the Girl Guide and Scouting movement. She was an avid bridge player, a member of the Bicentennial Skating Club for many years and enjoyed the company of her many friends and acquaintances. She was a graduate of Salisbury High School and formerly employed with the T. Eaton Company Maritimes Ltd. Resting at Cadman Bowness Funeral Home, 114 Alma St., Moncton, from 7 to 9 Saturday and 2 to 4 on Sunday. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church on Monday, January 21, 2008 at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery.
