Laurie E. (Pete) Petley, CE 1934 - 2008 Of Carrot Creek, AB and formerly of Harcourt, NB, passed away Tuesday, February 12th, 2008 at the Edson Hospital with special friends at his side. Born in March 1934, he was the son of the late William and Bertha (Betts) Petley. Besides his parents, he was pre- deceased by three brothers, Earl, Carman, and Carl and two sisters, Jessie Walsh and Bertie Petley. Survived by one brother, Everett (Kay), two sisters, Gloria Anderson and Donna (Grant) Lockhart; also several nieces and nephews. Laurie joined the RCAF at an early age and served 28 years in that service. During his service, he had three tours of duty with NATO in Germany. He was awarded the Canadian Decoration and the NATO medal for his service. After his discharge, he settled in rural Carrot Creek with his pets and among local wild animals. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and his home and buildings were decorated with trophy antlers and filled with sporting gear. Laurie will be greatly missed by his family members, relatives and by others who knew him well. Cremation will take place in Alberta.
