Rolfe Reynolds Colpitts 1921 - 2008 On Tuesday, March 25th, Rolfe died at Kingston General Hospital, ON. Rolfe is survived by his wife, Marguerite Good Colpitts; sister, Adelaide MacLeod, Truro, NS; children, Ronald (Marian), Orillia, ON, Marilyn (David) Taylor, Digby, NS, William Ian (Barbara), Pincourt, QC, Paul (Jill), Ottawa, ON; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; as well as, numerous nephews; nieces and cousins. Rolfe was predeceased by parents, Aubrey Lorne and Helena Steeves Colpitts of Moncton, NB; sisters, Maud and Eileen and brother-in-law, Everett MacLeod. Born in Moncton, he was the only son of the family. Rolfe attended Acadia University and Nova Scotia Technical College. He graduated in May 1944 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation, Rolfe served with the Canadian Army at Barriefield (Kingston), ON and Saint John, NB. Following that, he was active in the army reserve and in Ottawa, he worked with the navy. Rolfe worked for Northern Ontario Natural Gas, bringing gas from Alberta to Ontario and Quebec and reaching the position of Group Vice President of Industrial Accounts. He moved to Montreal in 1967 as part of a merger with Gaz Metropolitian. In 1969, he left Gaz Metropolitian and became a consulting engineer with Lalonde, Girouard and Letendre Consulting Engineers in Montreal. Rolfe also represented clients before the National Energy Board of Canada. He retired to Kingston, ON, in 1987. Rolfe's various volunteer interests included Rotary and his local church. Rolfe's passion was travelling and he was an observant, well informed traveller. He enjoyed the Mediterranean, United Kingdom, Europe and South America. Throughout his travels, he appreciated meeting with Rotarians and fellow engineers of Scottish background. Rolfe will be sadly missed by his canine best friend and walking companion, Sadie. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, (1900 John Counter Boulevard), Kingston, ON, on Sunday, March 30th, at 2:00 pm., followed by a reception in the James Reid Reception Centre. A private family graveside service will be held at Parham, ON, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army New Citadel Fund, Kingston, ON.
