James Gray Raworth
James Gray Raworth 1918 - 2008 Raworth, (James) Gray, 90, Pine Glen, NB, passed away peacefully at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home, Moncton, on April 23, 2008. Born in Port Elgin, NB on March 17,1918, he was the son of the late Courtney and Elderine (Murray) Raworth. Gray was a retired carpentry foreman, having worked at the family owned CC Raworth & Sons for 21 years, then at Parson's Construction Company for 24 years, retiring in 1980. Gray was the first Queen Scout at St. John's United Church, Moncton, and was a long time member of The New Brunswick Chapter of the United Empire Loyalists as well as other social and political organizations. Gray had a great pride in his family and an avid interest in genealogy and family history. Following his retirement, he spent many hundreds of hours in genealogical research, culminating in the writing and self publishing of several books, including; "These Eight" a tribute to his offspring and their forbearers covering up to nearly one thousand years of family history. Gray will be sadly missed by his wife of nearly 70 years, (May 3rd) Elsie (Fall); daughters, Edith Hamilton (late Roger), Oromocto, Carol Stevens (Ken), Riverview; sons, James Gray Jr. (Esse Peterson), Princeton, Massachusetts, David (Betty Grant) Niagara Road, Donald (Wanda), Dartmouth, NS, Kenneth (Mary) Riverview, Gerald (Evelyn), Shenstone and Tim (Wendy), Niagara Road; 24 grandchildren and many great grand children. A private family service will be held. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In Gray's memory, donations may be made to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation.
