"Buckie" Albert Johnson SACKVILLE, NB - After a courageous year long battle with Cancer, "Buckie" Albert Johnson, age 62, of Sackville, passed away peacefully in the Moncton Hospital Palliative Care Unit on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Born in Port Elgin, he was a son of the late Thaxter and Helen (Harper) Johnson. Buck was also predeceased by his first wife Carol in 1989. Buckie served in the Canadian Armed Forces from August of 1963 until he was honourably discharged in December of 1967. He did tours of duty in Canada and served with the United Nations Forces in Cyprus. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26, Sackville for 43 years. Buckie served as Sergeant at Arms and on several social committees for the Legion. He took part in, and helped organize many Remembrance Day services. Buckie's most enjoyable activities were when he was around family and friends, he lived and died surrounded by those he loved. Buck will always be remembered for putting his fellow man ahead of himself. He is survived by his loyal and loving wife, Eunice; nine brothers and sisters, Carolyn (Edward) Hicks, Sackville, Thaxter Jr. (Sharon) Johnson, Stoney Creek, ON, Rod (Grace) Johnson, Midgic, Joan Fortman, Hamilton, ON, Roy (Diane) Johnson, Point de Bute, Edward (Brenda) Johnson, Albert Mines, Margaret Johnson, Hamilton, ON, Ralph (Holly) Johnson, Grandbay/Westfield; several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Friday from 6 to 9 pm. His funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 11 am, Rev. Father Kevin Stockall officiating. The Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a Legion Memorial Service at the Funeral Home on Friday evening at 7:30 pm. Remembrances for Buckie can be made to the Extra-Mural Hospital in Sackville, the Palliative Care units in Sackville or Moncton, or a charity of the donors choice www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
