Joseph Ahern "Joe" 1927 - 2008 It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Joe Ahern. Respecting his wishes, he died at home, in the arms of his wife, Norma. Joe was born in Bathurst, NB, came to Moncton where he lived out his life. Joe was a Plumber/Pipe Fitter with local 694 and worked throughout Canada and the USA extensively, where he made many friends. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing trips with his sons and friend Rod. His love of nature included all things, but especially the birds. Joe had a very terrific smile, an outstanding sense of wit and humour and loved to whistle. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Norma; his daughter, Kathleen of Halifax; his sons, Brian (Michelle) of Moncton, Daniel (Annette) of Antigonish, Timothy of Halifax, Michael (Michelle) of Alberta; his extended family, Katherine (Ian) of Ontario, Penny, Linda (Bill), Julia (Brian), Suzanne (Stewart), Michelle (Stephen) all of Moncton, Robert (Betty) of Ontario; his brother, Bernard (Corrinne) of new York; his sister-in-law, Loretta of St. John, NB; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Olivia Ann (Doherty) & Michael Ahern; brothers Edward, Charles; sisters, Mary and Irene; and aunts and Uncles. Joe is resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, NB (506) 852-3530. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2008 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Bernard's with Father Sloan officiating on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 10am followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment to be held at a later date in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Donation in Joe's memory may be made to the organization/charity of your choice.
