Elizabeth (Betty) Fitzpatrick 1924 - 2008 Elizabeth (Betty) Fitzpatrick Flanagan (1924-2008) passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care unit of the Prince Edward Home in Charlottetown after a long, courageous struggle with cancer. Born in Clayton, Ontario on January 24,1924 she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Edith Edwards. Betty served in World War II, and worked for many years as a nurse's aide at the Mount Saint Joseph Extended Care Unit in Chatham, New Brunswick. Betty is survived by two sons, Bill Fitzpatrick (Cheryl) of Ottawa and Bob Fitzpatrick (Sheila) of Fredericton; a daughter, Carole Fitzpatrick Clark (Greg) of Charlottetown; one daughter in law, Jacqueline Fitzpatrick of Toronto; and one brother, Ray Edwards of Trenton Ontario. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Sean and Lee Ann, Craig and Jennifer, Kyle and Cassandra, one great grandchild, Gabriella; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; two brothers, John and Freddy; three sisters, Maisie, Dorothy and Ruth; Her eldest son, Barry Fitzpatrick; and two loving husbands, John Fitzpatrick (1971) and Edmund Flanagan (1990). Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Flanagan is resting at Maher's Funeral Home Miramichi, NB on Sunday May 18th from 7 to 9 and on Monday May 19th from 2 to 4, 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday May 20th at 11am from St Michael's Basilica Miramichi, NB. Interment will be in St Patrick's Cemetery.
