William R. Carter

William R. Carter The death of William R. Carter, age 85, of Sackville, occurred suddenly at his home on Saturday, June 14, 2008. Born in Mount Whatley, he was a son of the late Russell and Caroline (Hayes) Carter. Bill was employed as a sheet metal worker and furnace repairman for over 40 years. He was a member of the Amherst Bridge Club and the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a Veteran of WW II serving with the Royal Canadian Engineers in England and Continental Europe. He will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Doris Hicks, Sackville; 3 sons, Brian (Mary), Mt. Whatley, Douglas (Cynthia), Sackville, David (Cathy), Riverview; 1 daughter, Marilyn McDougall, Kelowna, BC; 2 half-sisters, Margaret Costin, Amherst, NS, and Verna (Donald) Routledge, Jackson's Point, NS; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, James and Smith; and sister, Mary. Arrangements have been entrusted with Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). In keeping with Bill's wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
