Joseph Reginald Norman Gautreau 1938 - 2008 Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, Reginald (Reg) Gautreau, age 70, of Canaan Station passed away in the Moncton City Hospital Palliative Care Unit on July 3rd, 2008. Reg was born at 110 Dominion Street in Moncton on June 20th, 1938, and was the first born son of the late Jean Gerard and the late Mary Elizabeth (Carm) (Kristiansen) Gautreau. Reg is survived by his loving wife, Carol Adrienne (Stanton); two daughters, Natasha Daniels (Kyle) of Edmonton, AB, Sheila Gautreau of Burleigh Falls, ON; three sons, Perry (Joe) Syer (Tammy) of Sardis, BC, Kelly (Grete) of Edmonton, AB, Anthony of Peterborough, ON; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Reg was a spirited man who took great pride in his work as an iron worker, welder and fabricator. He operated a variety store for the Canaan Station Variety Gas and Diesel Bar until retirement. Reg was a member of the Riverview Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree Council no. 01310, and 4th degree, Assembly no. 0618, a dedicated volunteer of the Saint-Paul Volunteer Fire Department. Formerly, he was an avid CB operator, motorcyclist, hockey coach, and a member of the Tri-County Search and Rescue, and thoroughly enjoyed hunting. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was predeceased by one son, Mark (1960); two sisters, Marie Rachel in infancy, Rachel (2003); three brothers, Léo-Paul in infancy, Terry (1979), Paul (2000). Visitations will be held at the Saint-Paul de Kent Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Saint-Paul de Kent on Sunday July 6th 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. and Monday, July 7th 2008 from 10 to 11:45. Funeral Mass will be held at the Saint-Paul Roman Catholic church, Saint-Paul de Kent on Monday, July 7th at 12:00 pm. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In Reg's memory donations can be made to the St-Paul Volunteer Fire Department to enable them to assist others.
