Laurie J. LeBlanc Laurie J. LeBlanc, 80, of Moncton with his family at his side, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Saturday July 19, 2008. Born in Lewisville, he was the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Leger) LeBlanc. Laurie was retired from the CNR Yard Office (45 years service), former employee of Barnaby's Store, Lewisville and was a self employed businessman. He attended St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, member of the CN Pensioner's Assoc., Moncton Council #1 CB of RT, Moncton Legion #6 and founding member of the Moncton Bi-Centennial Skating Club. He was an avid boater, member of the Pointe du Chene yacht club and in past years sailed in the around Prince Edward Island race, also several races to Summerside and Charlottetown. He was instrumental in arranging the Veterans Memorial Flag Monument at Shediac Rd. Cemetery and the Veterans Memorial at Lewisville Pleasant St. Park (Village Creek Park). In 1952, Laurie won the R.K. Buzzell trophy for winning the Shediac Bay marathon swim (1 mile in 36min and 24 sec). He enjoyed skiing and was a former student of the late Lou MacNairn. Laurie will be sadly missed by his wife, Marion (Bourgeois) LeBlanc; daughters, Susan Trenholm (Doug), Riverview; Stacey Johnson (Todd), Moncton; son, Danny (Louise Martin), Moncton; grandchildren, Kirk, Sean, Becca, Jordyn, Janik and Liam; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Cody and Owen; brothers, Frank (Betty), Gerald (Yvonne), both of Moncton; several nieces and nephews: In addition to his parents, predeceased by his brothers, John and Clarence; sister, Mary Ann. Funeral Mass at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Wednesday July 23, 2008, 10am; Rev. Allison Carroll officiating; Reception following the mass; Interment, Shediac Rd. Cemetery, Moncton.
