Joseph "Jos" Allain
Joseph "Jos" Allain 1917 - 2008 Joseph Allain, 91, of Résidence Notre-Dame du Sacré-Coeur, Dieppe and formerly of Sainte-Marie de Kent, passed away peacefully at the residence, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday September 24th, 2008. Married to the late Anna (Girouard) Allain (2000) he was born in Sainte-Marie de Kent on September 17th, 1917 to the late Gonzague and the late Elise (Léger) Allain. Jos was president of several local organizations, such as the Sainte- Marie de Kent Agricultural Society for several years, of the Sainte-Marie de Kent Regional School Board for 15 years, and at the first World Acadian Congress for the Allain reunion. He was the co-founder of the Expo Kent, a founder member of the Sainte-Marie de Kent Knights of Columbus council 7948. In 1993 Jos was elected to the Atlantic Agriculture Hall of Fame. He was a very active member of several organizations both at the parish and the regional level for numerous years. He leaves to mourn him, his two daughters, Sr Marie Hélène Allain ndsc, and Linda Williams (Donald) both of Sainte-Marie de Kent; one daughter in-law, Jacqueline Nowlan of Bouctouche; his four grandchildren, Anise, Gilberte, Rhéal, and Julie, and four great grandchildren, Anabel, Ethan, Sébastien and Karis. He also leaves to mourn him; two sisters, Elodie Richard (Antoine) of Notre-Dame, and Thérèse Allain of Moncton, and several nephews and nieces. Joseph was predeceased by one son, Jean (1975); three sisters, Hélène, Evéline, and Marie Elodie, and also by six brothers, Lionel, Evariste, Désiré, Thomas, Edouard and Yvon. Visitation will be at the Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Sainte-Marie de Kent on Sunday, September 28th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, and Monday from 2 to 3:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at the Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel Church on Monday, September 29th, 2008 at 4:00 pm. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In Joseph's memory, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr Georges L. Dumont Foundation or to the Résidence Notre-Dame du Sacré-Coeur (506-857-9636) would be appreciated by the family.
