Isabel Hannah Murphy

Isabel Hannah Murphy 1919 - 2008 Isabel Hannah Murphy, 89, of Forest Dale Home, Riverside-Albert passed away peacefully on September 25, 2008 at the nursing home. Isabel was born in Douglasfield, N.B. on March 31, 1919, the daughter of the late Guy and Mary (Pallen) Thompson. Isabel married the love of her life, John Murphy in 1940. After they married, they moved to the Moncton area and later settled in Gunningsville. She owned and operated Murphy's Home Cooking. She was known for her cooking all over the area and will be remembered for huge donuts "without the hole". Cooking was her passion and she did it from morning till night. Isabel also was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She always made time for her family and cherished times they spent together. Isabel was very content at the Forest Dale Home and during her last outing to the Albert County Exhibition she got the opportunity to get close to a miniature horse, which she loved. She was very fond of horses and enjoyed watching them in the ring as well. She was a special lady whose smile will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Sharon Kennie of Riverside-Albert; her son, Peter Murphy (Debbie) of Hopewell Hill; grandchildren, Terry Rossiter (Ruth) of Alma, Susan Bennett (Ed) of Midway, Mitchell Murphy (Felicia) of Hopewell Hill and Melissa Murphy (Ryan) of Alma; by her great grandchildren, Virginia, Matthew and Emily Wilbur. She will also be sadly missed by Shawn, Ashley, Robin, Emily and Josh. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, John; and by a sister, Elizabeth Steeves of Douglasfield. She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Friday evening from 7 to 9 pm. Parish Prayers and a time of sharing of memories will take place on Friday evening at 8:30pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Riverside-Albert on Saturday, September 27th, 2008 at 11:00am with Father Phil Mulligan officiating. Interment will be held in the Grey's Island Cemetery, Hillsborough. For those who wish donations to the Forest Dale Home, Riverside-Albert Volunteer Fire Department, Bennett and Albert County Hospital Foundation or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
