James (Jimmie) MacNeil

80, St. Catharines Ontario/New Waterford Jimmie MacNeil passed away on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 in St. Catharines. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Hector and Katie (MacNeil) MacNeil. Jimmie served with the merchant marines during the second World War. After the war, he sailed on the Dominion coal boats and lake boats. He settled in St. Catharines and worked for the city until his retirement in 1993. Jim made yearly trips home to Cape Breton where he enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Loretta (Kelly) MacNeil, two sons, Craig and Clayton, daughter Kelly, and one grandson, Colton. He is also survived by one brother, Roy, New Waterford, four sisters, Peggy Rutledge, Anna Lever, New Waterford, Madeline McCarthy, Sydney, and Gina Creighton, Avon, MA. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Johnnie and Matthew. Funeral took place Nov. 10, 2008 at St. Mary's Church in St. Catharines.
