Dorothy "Betty" (Wilson) Betts 1926-2008 Dorothy "Betty" Betts, 82, of Mazerolle Special Care Home and formerly of Riverside-Albert passed away peacefully on December 3, 2008 at the Moncton Hospital. Dorothy was born in Riverside on January 7, 1926, the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Jones) Wilson. She worked at T. E. Eaton Company in her earlier years, later she owned and operated Maples Canteen with her husband, Laurie Sr., in Riverside from 1969-1973. After that she worked at the Forest Dale Nursing Home as an Aide. She was a member of the St. Alban's Anglican Church. Dorothy was very involved in her community having earned a Service Medal and Long Time Service Medal as she volunteered for the St. John Ambulance. She also volunteered at the Forest Dale Home and also with the Albert County Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club and had a great time with all her friends. Above all things she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished all the family gatherings and especially treasured the times spent at the camp in Chester. She was a truly special lady who will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by her four sons, Douglas (Betty) of Moncton, Laurie Jr. (Judy) of Riverview, James (Edna) of Moncton and Ronald of Moncton; by her seven precious grandchildren, Trevor, Brent, Lori Ann, Stephen, Brice, Jennifer and Kelsey and by her ten great grandchildren; her brother, Frank Wilson (Carol) of Fredericton. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews and by many friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband Laurie Betts Sr; son, Curtis; sisters, Gwendolyn and Gwyneth; brothers, Robert and Richard. She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 2:00pm with Rev. Rob Salloum officiating. Interment will be held in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, N.B. For those who wish, donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
