Avilla Eileen Colford
Avilla Eileen Colford 1910 - 2008 Avilla Eileen Colford, age 98 passed away at her residence Pro Tem Health Services, Moncton on Dec.5th. Until the last six years she had been a long time resident of the town of Blackville, NB. She was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Kervin) Colford. She had a bachelor of arts and education degree and gave forty-two years to the education of the youth in her community. Because of the years distinguished service to both her church and community she was the recipient of the Centennial Medal in 1967 and the Bishop Dollard Medal in 1994. She was a member of St. Raphaels Church, Blackville, NB, a 75 year member and past president of the CWL and a member of the Retired Teachers Assoc. Avilla is survived by her sisters Flora LeBlanc, Riverview, NB; and Edith Mandryk, Rhode Island; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she is predeceased by her sisters Lela, Eva, Ella, Phyllis, Frances, Marguerite and brother Theodore. The family would like to thank the staff at Pro Tem for the kindness and respect they gave to Avilla - a gracious lady. Avilla Eileen Colford will be resting at Father A.A McKinnon Memorial Room, Blackville, NB with visitation Monday 2 to 4, and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday Dec. 9th at 11 AM. Burial will take place in the church cemetery later in the Spring.
