Mary Ellen (McGeown Mitton) Little

Mary Ellen (McGeown Mitton) Little 1919-2008 Mary E. Little, wife of the late Roy I. Little, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grand mother, passed away at the Lake View Manor, Riverview, on Friday, December 19th, 2008, and formerly of Queen Mary Crescent, Moncton. Born in Market Hill, Armagh County, N. Ireland, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Henry) McGeown. Mary immigrated to Canada with her family in 1928, arriving at Pier 21 in Halifax and settling in Melrose, NB. She retired from catalog sales with the T. Eaton Company in 1977. After her retirement, Mary spent many hours tending to her flower gardens and baking cookies for her children and the little ones who loved her ginger snaps. Mary is survived by her children; Lornette Snider (Wayne) Riverview, Eva Plourde (Martin) Manitouwadge, ON, Margaret Hicks (Claude) Moncton, her twin, Eugene Mitton (Myrna) Turtle Creek, NB, Albert Mitton, (Dorothy) Riverview, sister Beatrice Bishop Gulf, ON. Louise Hall (Bill) Toronto, Madeline Apostolov (George) Barrie, ON, 23 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 6 great great grand children, niece Beverly Steeves (Gary) of Moncton, as well as several McGeown and Reavey cousins in N. Ireland. Also surviving are step-sons James Little (Gail) Salisbury, Wayne Little (Janet) ON. In addition to her parents and husband Roy, Mary was predeceased by her grand daughter Patricia Ann Mitton of Saint John. 4 sisters, 3 brothers, and a step-daughter Verna Roberts, Whitby, ON. Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Monday, December 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 23, 2008, Rev. Carol Mullin officiating. A reception for Mary's family and friends will follow the service in the Garden View Room of the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Trinity United Church, Riverview, or a memorial of the donors' choice. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
