Marie L. (Bourque) Auffrey GARDNER, MA - Marie L. (Bourque) Auffrey, 70, of Gardner, Massachusetts, formerly of 80 King St., Fitchburg, died early Saturday morning, December 20, 2008, at UMASS Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after a brief illness. She was born April 21, 1938 in Scoudouc, New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of the late Eddie and Rose (Belliveau) Bourque. She moved to Fitchburg with her husband and first-born child in 1961. Marie worked for Foster Grant and Fosta-Tek for 20 years. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. She enjoyed word puzzles, cooking for her family, and traveling. She took a trip in April of this year to Nashville, TN to visit the Grand Ole Opry and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. She and Francis enjoyed vacationing in Cocagne, New Brunswick on the banks of the Petitcodiac River. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Francis J. Auffrey, also of Gardner; four children, Francine (Francis) Guy of Fitchburg, Colombe (James) Hopple of Wetumpka, AL, John Auffrey of Leominster, and Charlene (Allan) LaFosse of Athol; six grandchildren, Marie Guy, Abraham (Rebecca) Guy, James Hopple, Jr., Jessica Hopple, Julia LaFosse, and Robert (Bobby) LaFosse. She also leaves a brother Valerie (Florence) Bourque of Canada, and four sisters, Yvette (Armand) Robillard of Fitchburg, Jeanette (Maxime) Richard of Canada, Betty (Roger) Richard of Fitchburg and Lucille (Guy) Hebert of Canada, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Friday, December 26, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg. The funeral will be held Saturday, December 27, from Brandon Funeral Home, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Joseph Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
