John 'Jack' Warren Smith Cox

87, Sydney John Warren Smith Cox, 87, of Sydney, formerly of Spruce Street, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pictou, Dec. 26, 1920, he was the son of the late Jack and Blanche Cox of Pictou. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 138 Ashby; past president and life member. He was a veteran from the Second World War, having served in France, Germany, Italy and Holland with the Princess Louise Fusiliers out of Halifax (Halifax Armories). He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; daughter, Valerie, Sydney; sons, John Jr. (Dora) Cox, Sydney, Bill (Brenda) Cox, Sydney, Kevin (Chantal Bourque) Cox, Moncton, Robert (Dawn) Cox, Sydney; five grandchildren, John (Adele) Cox, Sydney, Nicole (Garth), Sackville, N.B., Catlin, Braden, Brittany; great-grandchildren, Haley, Makayla and Leigh-Anne. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Johnson, brother, Bill Frances Cox and a sister in infancy. Visitation for the late Mr. Cox will take place Thursday, Nov. 20 from 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral service will take place Friday at 10 a.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Reception to follow at Ashby legion, Branch 138.
