79, Sydney It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Hector MacDougall, 79, of Sydney, on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, while vacationing in Las Vegas with his family. He will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend of 56 years, Lenora 'Lee' (MacKinnon). Also left to mourn are his sons, Doug (Joan), Glace Bay, Glenn (Sandra), Lower Sackville, Brent (Helen), Bedford; his granddaughters, Kimberley (James) and Kristin (Jeff); his grandsons, Scott (Sarah) and Brett; also his great-granddaughters, Tara Lynn and Emma Rose. Also surviving are his sisters, Margaret (Bill) Shepherd, Mary (Fred) Woodill; sister-in-law Hazel, along with his many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Charles and Della, he was predeceased by his stepmother, Gertie, brother, Bobby, brothers-in-law, Fred and John, his sisters, Ruth and Doris and daughter-in-law, Frances. He worked for many years with Hamilton's Biscuits and retired from civil service at the Provincial Building in 1991. He will always be remembered for his kind and gentle nature. His great joy in life was sports; a fan of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, watching his sons and grandchildren in their many sporting events, spending time with family and friends at the cottage in Bras d'Or. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held Monday, Nov. 24 at St. Andrew's United Church, Bentinck Street, Sydney at 2 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment to take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
