66, New Waterford It is with broken hearts and deep sorrow that the family wish to announce the sudden passing of their father and brother John (Johnny) Julian Brenna on Nov. 22, 2008, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Sylvain and Violet Christina (Cameron) Brenna. An ironworker by trade for over 40 years, Johnny was a respected and proud member of the Ironworkers Local Union 752. An outdoorsman at heart, he spent many wonderful hunting and fishing trips with friends and family and there was always a good story to be told. He also enjoyed his summers diving and swimming off the Queens Rock. Johnny was well known for his contagious smile, kind heart and easygoing nature. Grampy will be truly missed by his faithful friend 'Breton'. Johnny is survived by his pride and joy, his precious daughter, Sonya 'Babe' (Brenna) Desrosiers; sisters, Lorrine, Germaine, Sylvia 'Bugsy', Betty (Wayne) Gillis; and brothers, Tony (Judy), Sylvain (Pierrette), Phonse (Marion), Donnie (Margaret-Ann), and Jerry 'Jooky' (Sis). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carol Brenna, brothers, Eddie and Henry, sister, Carmel, in infancy and son-in-law, Lawrence Desrosiers. Visitation for Johnny will take place Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, N.S., 862-7500. A funeral mass to celebrate Johnny's life will take place Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard/Mount Carmel Church with Fr. Gerald Campbell officiating, with interment at a later date in St. Agnes Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the KOC Hall, Plummer Avenue, all are invited.
