Alvina Mercier Alvina Mercier, 89, wife of the late Georges Mercier, of Shediac Bridge, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 following a brief illness. Born March 26, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Melas DeVarennes and Rose Melanson. She is survived by a daughter, Gisèle Mercier of Moncton; three grand-daughters: Rachelle Melanson (Raymond), Danielle Després (Randy Leet), and Monique Cormier (Jason); two great-grandchildren: Brittney Charters, Mikaila Cormier; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband (2001), she is also predeceased by a daughter, Louise Després (Ron), in 1996. She was the last survivor of her immediate family. In respecting Alvina's wishes, there will be no visitation. The funeral mass will be held at Christ-Roi Roman Catholic Church, Moncton, Monday, March 23, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. Memorial donations to the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
