Gertrude M. Stewart Gertrude M. Stewart, 96, of Royal Court, Riverview and formerly of Moncton, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, April 20, 2009. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Gertrude (Austin) MacCharles. Gertrude was retired from the Motor Vehicle Department of the Province of New Brunswick and attended Wesley Memorial United Church. She was a member of the U.C.W., Westmorland Chapter, I.O.D.E. and The Daughters of the Nile. Gertrude enjoyed playing bridge, crafts and spending time at her cottage in Pointe-du-Chene with family and friends. Gertrude will be sadly missed by her daughters, Valerie MacMichael (Bob), Halifax and Arlene Waymire (Stephen), Toronto; grandchildren, Richard MacMichael (Lori), Peter MacMichael (Shannon), Stewart Cook (Lori), John Cook (Pat), David Cook (Carol), Kate Pattison (Rob); great grandchildren, Christopher Cook, Alex Cook, Karsten MacMichael, Joshua MacMichael, Sofia MacMichael, Meghan MacMichael. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Stewart (1937); granddaughter, Gillian (2000); brother, Russell; stepmother, Rae (Rogers) MacCharles. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Thursday, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral service, Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, April 24, 2009, 2:30 pm, Rev. Dr. Philip Griffin-Allwood officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery later in the spring.
