Joseph Mombourquette 'Little Joe'

83, New Waterford Joseph Mombourquette, 83, of MacLeod Avenue, New Waterford, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at his residence. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Born in Cheticamp, Joe was the son of the late Simon and Josephine (Aucoin) Mombourquette. Joe was a devoted member of St. Agnes Church. He came to New Waterford at an early age to work in the coal mines. He was employed as a coal miner for 43 years and was known to those who worked with him as a hard worker who took pride in his job. Joe always enjoyed a good laugh or a practical joke. In his retirement, he enjoyed walking, visiting at the hospital, playing cards, spending time with his family or watching and discussing sports and world events. Joe took great pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a man of strong faith who enjoyed his daily mass and prayer. Joe will be remembered for his great sense of humour and quick wit. Joe is survived by his best friend and wife of 60 years, Marie (Aucoin) Mombourquette; three daughters, Shirley LeBlanc, Cheticamp, Paula (Greg) MacNeil, Darlene (Joey) Milley, both in New Waterford; and one son, Wayne (Betty Bishop) Mombourquette, Big Pond, C.B. Joe is survived by six grandchildren, Blair, Brian, Wade, Dale, Tara, Kayla and four great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by the V.J.
