Edna Hicks 1924 - 2009 Edna Hicks of Riverview passed away peacefully at The Grass Nursing Home, Riverview on Monday, May 18, 2009. Born in Baie Verte, daughter of the late Raymond and Jean (Snook) Goodwin. Edna was the sweetest, kindest, most loving human being and this love emanated from within. Outwardly, her beauty was reflected in the faces of everyone with whom she came in the presence of. Although of modest background, she never hesitated to reach out a helping hand to anyone less fortunate or in need - any need. She was always in appreciation and displayed a genuine love of life. Little children were her passion. She would often say "If only they didn't have to grow up." However, even as adults, her grandchildren have a very special place for her in their hearts. Her fun-loving nature gave way to romps in the snow or long nature walks with them. Her best-known public asset was her gift of fashion, which she shared freely in her involvement with such things as fashion shows, pageants, modeling and self-improvement courses; as well as, her long-lived career in retail. But, as anyone who knew her would agree, family always came first. She will be sorely missed by family and loved ones alike! She will be sadly missed by her husband Lloyd Hicks of 58 years, daughter Darlene (Dennis) Hansen of Lakeville, son Don (Donna) Hicks of Windsor, ON, six grandchildren; Nick, Erin, Matthew, Jessica, Stephanie and Jason as well as one great granddaughter Trinity. Visitation at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, 2009 from 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 2:00 pm followed by a reception in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Remembrances in Edna's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
