59, Scotchtown Irene Syms, 59, of Scotchtown, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Ken and Mary Margaret (MacLellan) Tucker. Irene was a member of the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Michael Church, River Ryan. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and working with ceramics. She also loved playing tarabish. Surviving are daughter, Corina Syms, Scotchtown; son, Adrian 'Francis' (Monica) Syms, Edmonton, Alta.; brothers, Kenny (Darlene), Sidney (Margie) and Lawrence, all of New Waterford; sister, Merdina Polly Young, Kentville, N.S.; two grandchildren, Carter and Rory. Irene was also survived by her best friend, Adrian. She was predeceased by sister, Hilda Elaine and brother, Earl John. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Michael Church with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. A private family interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, New Waterford. Donations in Irene's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
