Lillien "Van" May (Fanjoy) Mills
Lillien "Van" May (Fanjoy) Mills 1924-2009 Lillien "Van" Mills, passed away on 21 May 2009 at the age of 84. Born in Bagdad, Queens Co., NB on 31 May 1924 she was the daughter of the late Hazel (London)and Harry Fanjoy, both of whom passed away in 1944. She was predeceased by her husband Robert R. Mills in 1997. She is survived by son Fred "Skip" (Lynda) Mills of Sackville, NB; daughter Bluette (Alan) Higgins of Elgin, NB; grandsons Randy Mills of Fredericton and Bruce Mills of Sackville, NB; sisters Eleatta Harris of Rothesay,NB and Ruby Justason of Fredericton,NB; brother, Ron Fanjoy of Mill Cove, NB; a special sister-in-law June Fanjoy and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Van led a full life, serving as a WREN during WWII, working as a seamstress, and raising a family. She was an avid gardener, and was a member of the Monctonian African Violet Society for many years; there is an African violet named for her. Van was beloved by friends and family alike and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home, Hopewell Cape, NB on Monday, 25 May from 7-9pm. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, 26 May at 3:00pm. Interment will be in the Wesleyan Union Cemetery at a later date. In Van's name, donations made to the NB Lung Association or to a charity of the donor's choice, would be appreciated by her family.
