1915-2008 Glace Bay It is with broken hearts the family of Mary Ellen 'Buffie' (Lamont) Buckler, formerly of 7th Street, Glace Bay, who also resided with her granddaughter at 213 Wallace Rd., Glace Bay, announce her passing, Buffie passed away on Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 at Victoria Haven Nursing Home, where she had been a resident the past three years. Buffie was a member of the Glace Bay Salvation Army and Home League. She was a member of the Glace Bay Pensioners Club where she enjoyed playing darts, bowling and the occasional card game. Born in Glace Bay on January 14, 1915 she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (MacKinnon) Lamont. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Buffie leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Lois Killiough, Eastern Passage; sons, Sherman (Audrey), Glace Bay, Ken (Carrie), Florida and special granddaughter, Cavelle and her family, who took fantastic care of her for many years; seven loving grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Llewellyn Buckler; son, Alben; sisters, Susan, Annie, Catherine, Margaret, Jennie; and brother, Donald. Visitation for Buffie Buckler will be held today (Monday) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Tuesday in the Salvation Army Church with Captains Kristian and Lesley Simms officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
