GILBERT (BARRIE) RODY

RODY, GILBERT (BARRIE) - Gilbert (Barrie) Rody 87, of Shediac Bridge passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, July 4th, 2009. Born in Winnipeg, MB, on October 23rd, 1921, he was the son of the late Phillip and Elizabeth (Grasser) Rody. Barrie was a retired Chief Warrant Officer of the R.C.A.F. with the Special Investigations Unit of the Military Police and served his country proudly with 38 years of service, he was past president and treasurer of the Royal Canadian Legion, Shediac Branch. He will be sadly missed by his sons who followed their father's example by also serving their country on a military level, Barrie (Melva), Greenwood, NS, Patrick (Therese), Cocagne, Michael (Jill), Campbell River, BC, Phillip, Shediac Bridge; sister Phyllis Knapper, Moncton; grandchildren Patricia, Valerie, Barrie, Mary, Beth, Andrew, Michael and Patrick, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Barrie was also predeceased by his wife Mary (Mazerolle), 2002, brother Herb, sisters Roxy and Chuck. No visitation by personal request. Funeral Mass to be held on Tuesday, July 7th, 2009, 11am at Paroisse de la Visitation in Grande-Digue, Father Jean Bourque officiating. Reception following the service. Interment in Grande-Digue cemetery. In Barrie's memory, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
