BRENNAN, DOROTHY ADAVILLA (HOLMES) - At her residence, 17 Manawagonish Gardens, Saint John with her family by her side, Dorothy passed away peacefully on July 17th, 2009. Wife of the late Barry (Bud) Brennan. Born June 15th, 1928 in Halcomb, NB to Fred and Annie (Tozer) Holmes. Dorothy was a 1949 graduate of the Miramichi Hospital School of Nursing and worked at the Miramichi Hospital on the maternity floor until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of St. Michael's Basilica, Miramichi and St. Rose of Lima, Saint John. Dorothy was a very loving and special mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Survived by her children Fred (Beth), Jerry (Brenda), Lois Stewart (Len), Barry (Amy) and Mark (Susan). Grammie Dot to Scott Brennan (Maggie), Barry Brennan, Jill Brennan, Jeremy Brennan (Joanna), Amy Hughes (Brad), Ashley Brennan, Brennan Stewart, Gregory Stewart, Stephanie King (Mike), Joey Gregan (Kelly), Catherine Bailey Abidi (Sohael). Great grandchildren Carly, Logan, Myles, Gian, Adli, Camryn and Conan. Survived by her brother Gayer Holmes of Halcomb, sisters Elizabeth (Liz) Griffin and Molly Emery of Saco, Maine. Predeceased by brothers Wallace, John, Hubert, William, Buel and sisters Ida and Reta. Visitation will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home, Manawagonish Road, Saint John on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Mahar's Funeral Home, Miramichi for visitation on Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Michael's Basilica, Miramichi (Chatham) at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 21st. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Maher's Funeral Home 35 University Avenue, Miramichi (Chatham). Remembrances may be made to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of donor's choice.
