ALLEN, HELEN GLENNA - Helen Glenna Allen, age 89, of Bayfield, widow of Edwin "Ted" Allen, passed away peacefully at the Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin on Thursday, August 13th, 2009. Born in Malden, she was a daughter of the late Avard and Maude (Spence) Wall. Helen was an active member of Bayfield United Church, acting as Organist and Choir Master for over 50 years. She was a member of the Port Elgin Senior Citizens Club and the Fort Monckton Chapter of the Eastern Star OES. She was well known for her musical talents, and was called upon to play for many weddings, funerals and special events in the area over the years. Helen will be sadly missed by son Edward (Terrlynn), Malden; five daughters, Wendy Daly (Carman), Murray Harbor, PEI, Carolyn Wood, Port Elgin, Margaret Geldart (Alden), Lewis Mountain, NB, Beverlee Allen, Riverview, NB and Velvet Allen-Burns (Brian), Upper Cape, NB; son-in-law Brice (Lynn) Watson, Saint John, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; nephew Ernie (Eva) Bowser and niece Shirley Bowser both of Sackville. She was predeceased by husband Ted in 1991 and a daughter, Della in 1988. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin, NB (506-538-2241) where visiting hours will take place on Saturday from 7 to 9 pm and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from the Wesley United Church, Bayfield on Monday, August 17th, 2009 at 2 pm, William Drysdale DLM and Rev. Jim Shaffner officiating, followed by burial in the Bayfield Cemetery.
